Bury FC have made a shaking appearance in England’s oldest footballing competition, with the First Round Proper just one successful game away, writes Lily-Mae Cooper. Our next women’s first team match sees the Shakers host Salford City FC Lionesses Women, following Sunday afternoon’s loss against Wythenshawe. Salford currently sit in ninth place in the Premier Division of the North West Womens Regional League, one below Bury. The Shakers last came head to head with Salford in August, with the match finishing with a 1-1 draw. Following discussions amongst the board & management team, it was felt that our recent cup successes coupled with the Finnish weather, it would be difficult to arrange a date before the first round concludes in December. We can confirm Andy Briggs has joined Northern Premier League side Widnes on dual registration. Andy has made 12 appearances off the bench this season and heads to Merseyside in a bid for more game time. We are delighted to confirm our new pitch partnership with the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB). The Manchester-based University will play a number of their Wednesday afternoon fixtures at Gigg Lane for the 2024/25 season. UCFB hosted a small sided tournament at the stadium last month to begin the partnership. Brendan Flood, Chairman and CEO, UCFB said: “I am delighted that UCFB’s elite football teams will have the opportunity to be based at Gigg Lane for the 2024/2025 Season.
